A Bonding Day for fathers and sons:
It is just amazing to see how much imaginative and creative things can be done when the energies of fathers and sons are channelized at a problem. Well, if the problem is to make ROBOTS – the energy just gets exponential. Yes! This weekend 20 teams of fathers and sons competed amongst each other to create the best Robotics Design that can pick up boxes and drop them in a basket in a workshop organized at the British Council Library.
The task, given to the teams, was to create an object lifting robot that can pick up boxes and drop them into a basket. The teams had to use the concepts of simple and complex machines, pulleys, levers, wedges and mechanical advantage to create this object lifting robot. All of this was completed in three hours time followed by trial runs of all different designs. All the 20 designs created were highly sophisticated demonstrating that we will get few Nobel Laureates from this country in the times to come.
Although, every team was a winner in its own way, there was only one winner – and the winning team was awarded a Robotics Pack at end of results. All in all, everyone had a great time, paving way for a full-fledged Robomania workshop in the December break.
