The Magical Firction!

We could not have done a lot of tasks if there wasn't the magic of friction. Without friction, we could not walk properly and would be sliding all the place!

Friction plays a very important role in the control of motion. The rubber Belts (small and big) in our BuLoTM Robotronics kit serve this purpose. The rubber belts prevent skidding of the robot so we have control over the motion of the bot.

Motors in Motion!

Motors, are extremely useful in robot building. Motors can be used to give all types of motion to the robot - be it translatory, circular, oscillatory etc.

The motors can move in two directions - clockwise and anti-clockwise. The change of direction can be done by simply switching the polarity (connections on the battery) of the motor.

In the BuLoTM Robotronics Kit you can toggle the Motor Switches to change the direction of the motor. Check out next week's Weekly Video on Channel BuLoTM for more about Motor Switches and Motors.

Bonding Day!

A Bonding Day for fathers and sons:

It is just amazing to see how much imaginative and creative things can be done when the energies of fathers and sons are channelized at a problem. Well, if the problem is to make ROBOTS – the energy just gets exponential. Yes! This weekend 20 teams of fathers and sons competed amongst each other to create the best Robotics Design that can pick up boxes and drop them in a basket in a workshop organized at the British Council Library.

The task, given to the teams, was to create an object lifting robot that can pick up boxes and drop them into a basket. The teams had to use the concepts of simple and complex machines, pulleys, levers, wedges and mechanical advantage to create this object lifting robot. All of this was completed in three hours time followed by trial runs of all different designs. All the 20 designs created were highly sophisticated demonstrating that we will get few Nobel Laureates from this country in the times to come.

Although, every team was a winner in its own way, there was only one winner – and t
he winning team was awarded a Robotics Pack at end of results. All in all, everyone had a great time, paving way for a full-fledged Robomania workshop in the December break.

Hi there,

We all learn a number of concepts in Science and Mathematics in our school. But have you ever thought how this concepts can be useful to you? Or why do they teach you all this stuff?

You can get your answers at Robomania Workshops. In these workshops, you actually implement Science and Mathematics concepts taught in schools. And you realize that learning can be fun and exciting too!
Hi there,

The BuLo Fun Circuits is a pack of 4 different soldering kits. This pack includes :

1. Alarm Clock: An alarm based on Light Sensors that is buzzes as soon as sunlight falls on it.

2. Smiley: A blinking lights circuit which uses the Resistor - Capacitor - Transistor Logic.

3. Bike Flasher: An interesting Relay circuit that can be fixed pn your bicycle as brake lights.

4. Water Alarm : This is a circuit that warns us when water overflows from a tank.

Robotics In Education 2009 - Jaipur Seminar

Teaching can be fun and exciting. That’s what the participants of the Robotics in Education seminar found out.

The seminar was organized in DPS Jaipur, NH-8 in partnership with Building Blocks, a Delhi-based organization involved in experiential learning. The goal of this event was to provide an insight on the application of robotics in teaching of Science, Mathematics and Computer Science.

The participants of the seminar were PGT teachers of Science, Mathematics and Computer Science from leading schools of Jaipur – Maharani Gayatri Devi Public School, Sawai Man Singh Vidhayala , Cambridge Court Public school ,Seedling Public School; St.Anslem Mansarovar, Airforce school etc.

The event began with a welcome note by DPS Jaipur representative Mr. Ravi. Then, Building Blocks representative Mr. Tarun shed light on the company’s mission to pioneer experiential form of learning in the Indian schools. Mr. Tarun emphasized on the intrinsic potential of hands-on learning to revive the Indian education system.

Further, the lead trainer from Building Blocks, Swati Sharma, conducted a Robot Building session for the participants. In groups of 2-3, the participants first designed the base of the robot using a 2Wheel Drive base.

After understanding the basic design of robots, the participants then moved forwards to design the body of the robot. The body was designed based on the aerodynamic principles.

Next, the participants created a Line Follower and understood the application of binary logic in Robotics.

The goal of this event is to introduce Robotics as a method of learning Science and Mathematics in the Middle School. The participants not only created robots but also understood the application of Science and Mathematics principles behind them.

At the end of the session, all participants were awarded participation certificates for their dedication and enthusiasm shown in the workshop.

Demo at Amity School

The Building Blocks team had conducted an informative demo at Amity School, Noida. In this demo, the participants got to know about our popular Robomanaia program. The demo began with a short video describing the structure of the program. The video included details about the Robomania levels, skills learnt and the products developed during the program.

The kids were also shown a working product - a Line Follower made with the BuLoTM Robotronics Kit. Watching the robot move on a black line, the kids got inquistive about working of the sensors. Our representative, Tarun Bhalla, explained to the kids the working of the Light Sensors used in the robot.
